Our Association was trying for seven years to collect data and evidence for his illegal actions, which led to the maltreatment and the death of many animals. The first complaint was sent to the Vet Directorate of Chania in February 2008.Since then many other unsuccessful attempts have been made, because he was always managing to escape.In the meantime the complaints were multiplied, but nobody wanted to testify. “Humans” poisoned defenseless animals that were sheltered in Chania, Crete, Greece. This horrible action of unknown persons, to cast “fola” and murder in the most agonizing and harrowing way at least 30 stray animals, hosted in a shelter in Kaina(near Vamos), caused the rage of the animal lovers. Mrs Lukas, the owner of the shelter as well as other volunteers, who offer their selflessness services for the protection of animals in Chania could not stop their tears, while collecting the dead bodies of the murdered dogs. The variform activity of the Animals Welfare Association of Chania “The Protection of Animals” continued tireless last year. The importance of our Association’s work is that we opened perspectives for the solution of the animals’ issue in our city and we did not restrict our actions only to the nestling, neutering, care and adoption of stray animals. Mrs Trahili, In answer to the intervew you gave to Mss Evi Saltou from “TA NEA”, the Panhellenic Animal Welfare Steering Commity would wish to point out: The draft of the law for the pet animals, which we all know read and discussed in many ways makes clear that from now on the participation of animals in circusses and other shows is forbiden as well as generally using them for monetary gain.
