Eξελίξεις από την υπόθεση του αλυσοδεμένου ζώου που πέθανε από δίψα!!!

Mετά την παρέμβασή μας και την ενημέρωση των Αστυνομικών Διευθύνσεων Χανίων και Κρήτης,επικοινώνησε με την πρόεδρο του συλλόγου μας κα Μπομπολάκη,ο Διοικητής του Α.Τ. Σούδας και της ζήτησε στοιχεία για το συμβάν,αναφέροντας ότι είχε εντολή να ερευνήσει άμεσα την υπόθεση.

Σήμερα- μετά πάλι από παρέμβαση του συλλόγου μας- η Αμερικανίδα πολίτης πήγε για κατάθεση στο αστυνομικό τμήμα,συνοδευόμενη από μέλος του συλλόγου μας ώστε να μεταφράζει τα λεγόμενά της.

Εκεί ενημερώθηκε από τους αστυνομικούς,ότι εντόπισαν το δράστη στο σπίτι του στα Χωραφάκια και τους είπε ότι το ζώο πέθανε όχι από λειψυδρία αλλά επειδή… ήταν άρρωστο.

Στην καταγγελία της ανέφερε ότι είχε δει πολλές φορές τον αγρότη να χτυπάει τα ζώα του με πλαστικές σωλήνες νερού και να τα πετροβολεί,ότι ήταν αλυσοδεμένα και εκτεθειμμένα στον καυτό ήλιο χωρίς κατάλλυμα και νερό και όσες φορές τα έλυναν φιλόζωοι, αυτός τα έδενε εκ νέου, ενώ ήταν ιδιαίτερα επιθετικός με την ίδια που πολλές φορές προσπάθησε να του μιλήσει για να βελτιώσει τις συνθήκες ζωής των δύο ζώων.

Ανέφερε την εξαφάνιση του δεύτερου σκύλου και εξέφρασε την ανησυχία της για την τύχη του,αλλά και για την ασφάλεια των δικών της ζώων.

Ο αστυνομικός τη διαβεβαίωσε ότι η υπόθεση θα πάει στον εισαγγελέα για την τιμωρία του δράστη.

Μετά την επιστροφή της από το αστυνομικό τμήμα μας έστειλε την ακόλουθη επιστολή:

“I have just returned from the Police Department in Souda, Crete (Greece) where I made a report of the terrible incident of the abused dog next to my house. I was accompanied by Olga, a friend of Natasha’s who was kind enough to translate for me. I found out that when the police met with the farmer he made the excuse that the dog died because he was sick.

With Olga’s help I filed a complaint stating that:

– I had seen the man beat the dogs with a plastic water pipe on several occassions, throw stones at the dogs, sheep and goats,& that he had chained the dog to the fence and let it die in the heat.

– I was worried about thehealth and condition of the second dog he has chained inside a metal shack on the property and asked that the police let us re-home the dog.

-Since that farmer was very aggressive I was worried that he would retaliate against my own animals

-I asked the police to investigate the farmer’s claims that the dog died because it was sick – if it was sick which vet did he take it too? and if your dog is sick, why would you chain it outside in the hot sun with no water or shelter???

The police offficer was very concerned and very helpful (he has dogs himself!) he said he will investigate the case and it will go to a judge for a ruling.

I was given the name of the farmer, it is Eleftherios Malazianakis, he lives in Chorafakia a nearby town.

So now we wait upon the judicial system of Crete. I am encouraged by the attentiveness of the police officer, and I hope that the report gets filed quickly.
